The Phoenix has risen

Guess the Colonel himself couldn't stop John McCain from winning Florida yesterday. Now with ole Rudy's endorsement of McCain after he dropped out of the race and the Huck in a distant third place it's down to Romney and the Maverick. Super duper tuesday will sure be interesting to watch. Kinda feel bad for Romney with all the money he's spending just to be in second place.
Regardless, for those that are still stressing out attempting to figure out which candidate to support, try this. Another one of the many polling options out on the world wide web designed to help people pick their candidate.
Also, here's an interesting chart from today's wall street journal describing approval ratings for every president since Truman. As my wife said, "I think all this really shows us is that American citizens are incredibly fickle."
Alright, it's off to the gym then I have a date with Bobby Lee Swagger tonight....

Days Gone Bye

The weekend was a whirl wind!

Girlski’s folks came into town from the Heartland of America for a visit for the weekend and to also deliver our new comfortable leather chairs that we bought back around Christmas. It was great to spend some quality time with them and play a few competitive games on the Wii. I now know where my wife’s Nintendo playing skills come from!

Then, Saturday night saw the two of us ski’s with three other friends attend the Winter Jubilee Beerfest down the street from us. For $35 one could try a limitless amount of specialty beers from across the country that were 7% or higher! Four hours of bliss for some, but besides sampling some great tasting Opa - Opa and Lagunitas, I ultimately missed my Coors Light. It is of course, the banquet beer!

Finally, after the in-laws departure on Sunday afternoon the wife and I met up with some friends and we went to the Paradise Rock Club where we took in the North Mississippi Allstars.

Great tunes. Check out some video.

OSAMA BIN LADEN HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!

NASA has recently revealed photos from their Rover robot on the planet Mars and has a clear picture of where that rascally rabbit of a man named Bin Laden has been hiding all this time! It’s been Mars!

Apparently Bin Laden has been recruiting Tusken Raiders to assist him in his battle against the West! And all this time we thought he was hiding in Pakistan!

Good grief!!! And I thought Mars was solely populated with these guys….

winter wonderland

Winter time is a great time. In fact, it’s my favorite season. It’s only January and I’m already feeling like it’s too close to the end of the snow season. The 'Skis are trying to make the most of this time of year... planning vacations, making trips up north, and ice climbing.

Last weekend, I headed to the Granite State for a little ice climbing with the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC). Here are some pics of the weekend. I’m in the red jacket.

The Sum of All Enjoyment

Could it be really true? Could it be really possible?

I'm a big fan of Tom Clancy and am looking forward to seeing Ryan Gosling play Jack Ryan.

Now let's just see if this happens.

Dispatches from the North

In case your pet cat or dog just doesn’t cut it, why not think about taking in a nice large and furry black bear for your pet?? Just imagine the possibilities! Think about the Frisbee tossing, having your feet nice and warm when your pet bear sleeps at your feet, the security of having an alert carnivore protecting your house, etc.

However, there are indeed drawbacks. Like picking up the poop, all that begging at the table, hogging the living room furniture and of course the ever present threat of having your head knocked off when you’re tussling around!

Think that one would have to be crazy to do such a thing? Think again. This fellah up North did just the thing.

A wee bit crazy if you ask me. Just a wee bit crazy.

Guns don't kill people, but they sure do help......

In the words of my beloved wife:

First of all…. Why would you want to kill this…..

Secondly, how do you keep from pooping yourself when you see this monster coming at you?!?!!

Don't get us wrong, we're all for supporting the right to bear arms and hunt; however we'd rather the hunting be for the food rather than solely the sport. This shmuck probably just did this for bragging rights. (He's also lucky the bear didn't knock him into another time zone.)
The other issue at hand is why would you want to attempt to kill this by yourself with a single shot rifle? I'd like to know how this guy actually killed the bear.

Random Thoughts of the Day

Can anybody point out the person that is dead center in the picture with the glasses? Here's a hint.

Additionally, interesting article about Obama can be found here. I find it very sad that this is the case. Unfortunately, I think race is going to begin playing a large factor within the presidential race from here on out.

Oh, and this game is sparking an outrage. You decide whether or not that this game is tasteless.

I'm going back to watching the greatest football flick of all time now....

The Lazarus of 2008

Ah yes, the New Hampshire primary! So I'm sitting here with my lovely wife watching the election results trickle in and the results are pointing towards the comeback kid - John McCain. His "no surrender tour" has paid off and he's projected to win the state of new hampshire.

The Mac is Back!

Very exciting. Although he's a tad old he's starting to wear on me becuase of his stance on the war, immigration, his rebel attitude from the mainstream republican party, and his ability to tell it like it is. Not to mention his fight against Congressional "Pork." Although I'm not so sure what to think about his daughter though.....

On the otherside of the spectrum, Clinton is giving Obama a run for his money. Too close to call though....

Also, for those who are having difficult figuring out what candidate you are going to vote for, take a look at this as well as our fellow blogger's post here. Good stuff.

100 Books or Bust 2008 Tour!

So a friend of our's has set an insane goal of attempting to read 50 books by the end of the year.

Since both of us Ski's think this is an outstanding goal, and totally doable, we're going to copy her and set it for ourselves! But with a hitch, the two of us are going to shoot for 100 (read one hundred) books! (That's basically 1 book a week for each of us!)

Watch our progress as time goes on by glancing at this post from time to time. Also, as we've basically read every Cold War (boyski) and Mountaineering (girlski) book there is to read, feel free to give us suggestions on books to keep our drive alive!

And Baker --- thanks for the great idea!!!

Now for the other side of the equation.....

While it's easy to make fun of wacky Dennis Kucinich or nutty Ron Paul we are unfortunately missing the real wacknut presidential candidate (no it's not Gene Amondson) that has a must see presidential ad. That kooky, loony, batty and dotty candidate is the none other Hugh Cort. Somehow he came up with the money to televise the following advertisement on your local cable station. Good Lord......

A counter terrorism expert? That's like saying these guys smile too much.....

Until then, I'll see you on the radio....

A random website may be found here .

For those that don't watch it, check out "CBS News Sunday Morning." It's a sunday morning magazinesque news program with a great collection of eclectic stories that one normally wouldn't think about. It's a refreshing program to start off the week. Today's show besides having a great story about Charlie Wilson and Daniel Day-Lewis, also talked about Ben Schott of whom created the website above. Enjoy.

Spoken like a true wacko....

For those about to read the following link please be cautioned that these are not my views but rather those of an off the wall liberal.

At times like these, I like to pause and reflect on these types of posts during election years. It reminds me of the various viewpoints people have throughout this great Republic.

Apparently this person has a thing against the good people of the midwest. That's okay, I'd rather skeet shoot and drive a truck than read Kafka and drink hazelnut lattes.....

With the caution said, enjoy this.

Momentary lapse of a blogging sensation part deux

Sorry about that folks but it seems like we apparently lost that bloggin fever during the holidays. Hopefully everyone had a delightful set of holidays and is now settling in for the winter.

Anyways, to get to the point, for those that are interested in politics, take a look at the following website.

Ahh yes, it's an election year.....I love election years...brings the worst out of people....
